The Living Presence of God’s Holy Spirit In Us
Usually, when a subject title comes to me from the Lord in particular, it comes with scripture. The moment I sat down the scriptures came to me. I have a system on my computer as I have matured from being a writer over so many years. I’ve learned to grab scriptural passages and put them into my written essays. Since I want my messages to be God-centered what better way of doing that than using the actual word of God?

Believers know that the Spirit of the living God is completely immersed in the Word of God. We believe God speaks to His people through the written Word. We also believe that the Word is alive and active with believers. Hebrews 4:12. That means it reads our hearts and minds and fills certain things we need in any given moment. That’s because God knows our hearts. He knows our needs. If you have accepted Christ as Lord you literally, figuratively, and most importantly, spiritually… you have a helpmate living right inside your carnal body. He is literally your helpmate to assist you in whatever you might be going through in life. There are so many scriptures that point to this truth, but I will only share a few for now.
When Jesus walked amongst us He told His disciples that when He departed He would send them a helpmate that would live in them and remind them of the things He taught them while in their presence. Numerous passages throughout the Old and New Testaments speak of the Holy Spirit. Here are just a few.
John 14:25–26
“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you
Ezekiel 36:26–28
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.
Acts 2:1–4
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
2 Corinthians 3:17–18
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Ephesians 1:11–14
In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory.
Those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior already has the Holy Spirit living right inside our mortal bodies. We are never, ever out of the presence of God even though at times we need to remind ourselves that God is always with us. Christ told us He would never leave us nor forsake us through the end of times.
John 6: 39-40
And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
However, unbelievers may not know what we know. They have not studied the word as we have, nor have they been given the assurance of salvation by God through Christ Himself. We are self-assured as we gather in the body of God knowing He lords over us, between us, inside of us, and HE guardian and protects us. We’re so excited about hearing the Word of God as it is delivered to us through a multitude of ways, albeit through praise, worship, meditation, communion, and prayer; both personal and corporate, or directly from the Holy Spirit during our common everyday lives. Once the Spirit is alive in you, there is no limit to His embrace. Your cup overflows and still you can’t get too much of Him.
Over the years the Word has become my “go-to” when I need to be fed spiritually. When I am troubled I know to turn and face God. Many times the enemy will come along and knock me off my rockers. He catches me when I am weak and throws flaming daggers at my heart. Once you are down and depressed it spirals until you remember to call upon the name of the Lord Christ Jesus. He quickly comes to save you because He has never been out of you. You merely were blinded from His presence by the tricks of the devil who is very cunning. I don’t know about each of you but I have an arsenal of friends that I can call when I need a friend.
I can honestly say the same about each one of you because we have each other as true friends and fellow believers. God has placed us in each other’s lives for just that reason. When two or more are gathered in His name He is fully present in Spirit. We need to acknowledge His presence, and you can feel Him there. The Word of God can’t Lie. God can’t lie. If the Word tells us He is fully there… you need to let your mind know He is fully there and accept His presence. If you are in the hospital on a gurney He is there with you. If you just lost a loved one His is right there with you. If you are injured either physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, or in whatever ways the devil decides to attack you… the full armor of God is right there with you through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
I often use this notion that if you had the most expensive car on the planet, in your garage locked away and no one told you it was there all yours, free and clear, what good would serve you if you had no realization that it was there for you? I’m telling you that you have the most expensive gift on the planet living right inside your carnal body. If you are not fully aware of that as fact, that truth, then what good does it benefit you?
Our God is not a sometime God. He is a fully full-time God who will never leave us nor forsake us throughout the end of times… throughout eternity. If you do now acknowledge His presence how can He deliver upon His promise to you… especially you, His beloved children.
Originally when I sat down to write this meditation message I wanted to speak of the attributes of God but the Holy Spirit led me towards the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us. I still would like to mention some of the characteristics of God because knowing them can remind us of His presence when we see Him.
God is Omnipotent, self-existing, and without origin. He is immutable and never changes. He is self-sufficient. He is omnipotent which is all-powerful. He is omniscient, which is all-knowing. He is omnipresent and is always everywhere. God is wise, perfect, and has unchanging wisdom. Our God is faithful, good, just, merciful, gracious, loving, holy, glorious, and infinitely beautiful.
Just know if you are a follower of Christ Jesus He lives inside of you through the Holy Spirit. Find a way to turn and face Him whenever you need Him. If you are like me that would be all the time. To almighty God be the glory forever and ever. Selah!
